Name: The Flash When: TBD Where: TBD System: Godlike Power level: Low level Powers. Changes: Will cannot cancel other powers. A few others (will go into char gen if enough people are interested) Description:
It was known as The Flash. It happened on Jan 1 2005. News reports around the world spoke of a band of energy that swept through the country. The origin of "The Flash" was somewhere in London. Efforts to pin point the exact location were proving difficult. Nothing seemed to be disturbed by it many news programs speculated on the cause of this worldwide phenomenon at first it was thought to be an EMP wave but at the end of a week it was passed off as a "weather aberration caused by sun spots"
After two weeks it was forgotten about. With the Tsunami disaster and general hubbub going on in the news if they found out what caused it never got aired.
Three weeks after "The Flash" there was a small filler news story of a cemetery being vandalized. A mausoleum was broken into and bodies were stolen. The police have a couple of leads but nothing was solid. This news report was between a story about a serial arsonist and various grisly murders in the area (Regular News program)
Four weeks after "The Flash" reports of fights breaking out in hospitals. People thought to be dead getting up. Reports from the war tell stories of solders mortally wounded getting up afterwards. Most people ignore this assuming its some hoax or some such. Various websites start predicting the end of the world. With a large number of our troops fighting a war off home soil the epidemic happens in what seems to be a blink of an eye.
Five weeks after "The Flash" Most major cities are under martial guard. World wide the dead are rising up. They show to have increased strength and only partial memory of life. They are creatures of instincts and habit. They are violent and enjoy killing. Complicated operation is beyond their ability but operations such as opening a door or other commonplace actions are not. The Hollywood depiction of the slow and shambling corpse is false. They are fast, strong and very very deadly.
Six weeks after "The Flash" the fight against the dead is a losing battle. Broadcasting stations have gone off the air. Radio programs are still broadcasting. Reports of phenomenal powers have been rumored to been witnessed. From large areas suddenly erupting in fire to people flying. Most of the reports are once again passed off as fiction. Despite the rumors of the paranormals the dead still press on.
Seven weeks after "The Flash" most radio stations stop broadcasting. Other than a few private power sources there is no power to the city. Various walled communities are all over the country ranging in size from a few people to large groups of people. The world we knew is gone. The ashes are all we have to build from.
